A Modern Family Sanctuary by Vanillawood

For this installment of Designer Home Tours, the team shines a spotlight on design firm Vanillawood's latest remodel project in Portland, Oregon. Read through the origin of this project and a few bonus questions from Vanillawood co-founder, Kricken Yaker.

There is nothing better than a repeat customer. This Southwest Portland project began years after Yaker collaborated with this family on their initial remodel. When the family decided it was time to expand the footprint of their existing space, it was no question they would reach out to Yaker and her trusted team.

The trust and creative connection was already established so all that was left was the details. Yaker's brief? Build a sanctuary for a family of four with young kids by incorporating modern, fresh, and organic aesthetics centered around spaces that everyone can enjoy together.

Due to the clients' incredible taste, the decision-making process was seamless. Yaker believes having that trust from her clients is where the magic really happens because it allows her team to push boundaries and introduce new, outside-of-the-box ideas.
